A Genuine Figure Skating Romance:
Zoe and Don Timperon met at an ice rink. They believe that they are a genuine figure skating romance since they met while skating and enjoy ice dancing together.
About Zoe's Skating:
Zoe was a pond skater as a child. A age forty, she dicided to take "learn to skate" lessons with her daughter, Candace, at a Rochester, New York public ice rink. Zoe and Candace joined the Genesee Figure Skating Club and started taking private lessons. Zoe passed some figure skating tests. Some skating friends recommended Zoe begin to ice dance. She really liked ice dancing and has advanced at it at a steady pace. Zoe continues to enjoy improving at skating and especially enjoys skating with Don at the Kingston Skating Club and at Ice Dance Weekends.
About Don's Skating:
Don's father was a roller skater and ice dancer in the United Kingdom. He introduced skating to Don in 1954 on the frozen Don River in Toronto. Don's interest in figure skating began in 1958 at the Richmond Hill Figure Skating Club. Unfortunately, when Don joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1965, he put his skates aside for wings until 1993 when several adult skaters in Kingston invited him to skate on their synchro team. That led to taking up ice dancing again. Don enjoys skating with music, skating with Zoe, and skating with deep edges. He especially enjoys the skating and social aspects of ice dance weekends.
Zoe and Don's Figure Skating Love Story:
Don and Zoe first met at the February 2002 Toronto Ice Dance Weekend. They became better friends after meeting each other at several Canadian and US ice dance weekends over the next year. Eventually they started dating. After a year and a half of Rochester, New York/Kingston, Ontario long distance dating, they realized they were in love. They didn't want to be apart any longer. They bought an 1865 renovated country inn in Kingston, Ontario in August of 2004. After adding two bathrooms, landscaping, lighting and decorating the inside, they opened their home, in June 2005, as a Bed and Breakfast.
Romance in the Air:
Don asked Zoe to marry him while they were flying over the Thousands Islands U.S./Canadian border on October 7, 2006. Zoe says that his proposal was especially romantic and special. They also enjoy flying together. They were married on December 2, 2006 on The Secret Beach at the Marriott Ko'Olina in Oahu, Hawaii, in a private ceremony. For their honeymoon, they took a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands.
Happily Married and Skating:
Zoe and Don Timperon met because of figure skating and they still enjoy ice dancing together. They also take ballroom dance classes together.
Working at Being Figure Skating Judges:
In April, 2006, Zoe and Don began trial judging tests and competitions. They hope to become Primary Judges.
They Love Eachother and They Love Ice Dancing and Figure Skating:
Zoe and Don Timperson continue to have a great time ice dancing with each other. They love to skate together. Yes, they are a true figure skating romance.
