Haley Rose Gans (1995-2009) died tragically in a skiing accident on Friday, November 20, 2009. She was fourteen years old.

Haley brought joy to everyone she touched. When Haley competed in figure skating competitions, she felt she was competing with people, rather than against them. She passed hugs and smiles around every day, and she brought happiness to the ice skating world.

Gans had a passion for competition, but also for entertainment. She loved to perform for an audience. She especially loved a program with creative flare, style, drama or humor.

The Haley Rose Memorial Perpetual Trophy is donated to The Broadmoor Skating Club's Pikes Peak Classic Pairs and Ice Dance Competition with the hope of inspiring skaters in pairs and dance to exercise not only their technical skills but their talents in the creative and artistic aspects of skating at the highest levels.

The trophy itself is a Taylor-Gebler bronze which will reside in the Colorado Springs World Arena, the home of the Broadmoor Skating Club. Each year's winning team names will be engraved. Limited edition numbered collector quality Taylor-Gebler bronze take home trophies will also be awarded to the winning team. The award will honor the Judges' Choice for the most inspirational performance at any level for the Pikes Peak Classic Competition. The parents of Haley Gans want to congratulate the Pikes Peak Classic competitors for making an incredible difference in lives through their skating. "A skater's greatest art is changing the world heart by heart."

Haley's parents and the Broadmoor Skating Club named the trophy the "Skate with all your heart" trophy. Haley skated with all of her heart. They wish to pass this message on to figure skaters: "Skate with all your heart! You do make a difference in the world."
