A spread eagle is a figure skating move where a skater glides on two feet with the toes pointing in opposite directions. The legs are completely straight and spread apart. This move is done on outside or inside edges.
Inside spread eagles are easier than outside spread eagles.
Some skaters are not able to do spread eagles because they have "closed hips."
If a skater practices a spread eagle at the rail on a daily basis, even a skater with "closed hips" may be able to do a spread eagle.
