Katy Taylor began skating just before she turned six. She told her parents she wanted to skate when she was only four.

Jana Conter is Katy's main coach. Jana does some of Katy's choreography. She also works with Mark Poole. Lea Ann Miller does much the choreography for Katy's programs. Others work with her off the ice on ballet and conditioning.
