Ice skating freak

Ok here goes. I just saw the pairs and it was pretty predictable, but weren't Pang and Tong exciting. Congrats to them for the silver. as far as the women go, yes Kim Yu na will win. the men, well, welcome back Evgheny! He will win with Lysachek second and who know third??? I would be thrilled if Johnny weir will take the Bronze but I think it will be Chan

Yuna, of course

There is no doubt that the rightful owner of the gold medal in this Vancouver Olympics is- Yuna Kim. She has everything that a skater need. A rare skater of our times

Yuna Kim!!!!!

She is absolutely the BEST 2009&2010!!!Well, I know that she WOULD win! Asada Mao is like...so not a good sport.Well, that's what Japanese are like.
—Guest Kelly

Well, it's the Olympics

I cannot say for the mens, since there are very talented skaters so it's so hard to predict For womens, the obvious favorite is Yuna Kim. But I think the pressure is getting there. It is the Olympics and it IS the ISU, hence there may be some scandal that will possibly arise (not surprising). I'm thinking Gold: Yuna Kim Silver: Mao Asada Bronze: Possibly Joannie Rochette (since it IS Canada, but this slot is iffy) I just really hope that Yuna Kim wins gold. She skates quality programs, and I hope this Olympics can be a great, memorable experience for her.

My predictions

Well, I think that Yu-Na will be first of the ladies, though Miki and Mao are rather strong now. I myself like Miki more) And, as for men... Lysacek! Love him) If he manages to jump a quad, he'll be first for sure and even Plushenko will be able to do nothing. So, I do believe in Evan. And silver will go to Evgeniy, and on the third place I see Lambiel.

Mens Predictions

Obviously the trickiest competition to call. I have to think that the champion will have the quad/triple combination. Plushenko's is most reliable, so I pick him. I think a lot of skaters will try the quad (or quads) under pressure (except Chan, notably), at the expense of the rest of their elements. Joubert seems too inconsistent. This leaves Abbott and Lysacek, in my mind. I like Abbott's programs better, personally, but a one-two of Firebird and Scheherezade will appeal more internationally, so he gets the silver and Abbott gets bronze. Chan gets fourth (again, no quad but solid everywhere else plus he's Canadian). Lambiel struggles on his axel for fifth; Joubert sixth (yup, again!).

Pairs/Dance Predictions

Pairs: I want Shen/Zhao to win and think they will, but it will be close. That Russian 12-Olympics streak makes me nervous, and I think Kavaguti/Smirnov will capture silver with a lot of generosity. Bronze will be Savchenko/Szolkowy, edging out Pang/Tong Dance: I hate doing this before seeing Delobel/Schoenfelder's choreo. I think the judges want this to be a last hurrah before the ice dancing torch passes across the pond. I pick Domnina/Shabalin simply because they have competition under their belts. Delobel/Schoenfelder will do well but have some kind of major error to end in 4th. Virtue/Moir will edge Davis/White for the silver (it's in Vancouver is my logic there, plus I expect Davis/White to skate too safely in the OD). Belbin/Agosto finish 5th, unfortunately.

Ladies Predictions

An easy pick: Yu-na Kim, handily. Mao's ability to win rests on the triple axel, and my bold prediction is that she gets the bronze from multiple mistakes associated with her two Axel jumping passes. Suzuki will get the silver. I'd love for Nagasu to medal, but she'll need another season for judges to stop looking for jump downgrades.

Too many contenders to call

It's a jam packed field in the mens, Plushenko,Lambiel,Joubert,Lyack,Abbott,Chan and Tkakahaski all have a shot. There are a few women with a shot too. Ya Na Kim of course but don't count out the Japanese and Joannie Rochette..Flatt? 3 for the dance Russians, Canadians and Americans

Plushy will probably win but it would be nice to see someone else up there. May the best overall skater win. Yuna for ladies.

No Doubt

Watch Evgeniy Plushenko performing at 2009 Rostelecom CUP LP and you will have no doubt of who will be the 2010 Olympic Figure Skating Champions among men. The king is back!

The Usual Suspects

Kim Yu Na is probably the safest bet in my book. In the pairs, Savchenko and Szolkowy were my pick but based on the scores Xhen and Zhao received in their Grand Prix events I think I have to consider these two teams as co-favorites. Plushenko also appears to be ready for action so I have to make him my pick in the men's event. In dance, I think the ISU judges will do anything to keep a Russian couple on the top of the podium, or at the very least a European couple so that has Domnina/Shabalin and Delobel/Schoenfelder vying for gold and Belbin/Agosto, Virtue/Moir and Davis/White slugging it out for the bronze. However, I have read an article or two on Domnina/Shabalin's win at Russina nationals that describes their OD as "odd" and their overall performances as "a struggle."
