Thank you!
- Jo Ann, THANK YOU for this series of articles on ice dancing! If I had anything to add, it would be that it be written with the non-ice dancer (free style skaters, round'n'round skaters, hockey players, ankle skaters, those who don't skate) in mind that rinks, pros, ice dancers could use to encourage more into ice dancing. Problem for the decrease in social ice dancing is due to several things: 1. no mention of ice dancing lessons or what ice dancing is. 2. many pros do not have an ice dancing background hence, they do not look to teach it. 3. Rinks, when boys/men come in and show an interest is buying skates, they are shown hockey skates. Same happens with rentals. 4a. Watching better ice dancers (anyone who does ice dancing at any level) ice dance makes it look like it is beyond a prospective ice dancer's ability. Same for watching high-end competitions on tv 5. Seldom are ice dancers on public sessions helping skaters and introducing them to the simple dances.

Social ice dance sessions do exist today
- JoAnn's article makes it sound like social ice dance sessions are a thing of the past but I had recently heard from at least 11 of them that are happening on a weekly basis. I believe that social ice dance sessions can currently be found in Boston, Chichago, SF, Wilmington DE, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Portland OR, Vancouver BC, Toronto, Washington DC and I know that we have a good one here in NYC. The number of social ice dance sessions currently happening is small but the number is not zero so please don't make the situation sound worse than it really is!
