Douglas C.J. Stevenson - Figure Skater and Ice Dancer:

Douglas Stevenson qualified for 2007 Junior Nationals with his partner Heather Fielding. In 2009, her qualified again with Molly Raymond.

Date and Place of Birth:

Douglas Stevenson was born on September 19, 1991 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Hometown:

Thornton, Colorado

Family:

Douglas' supportive family members include his mother, Donna, and his father, Doug Stevenson.

How Douglas Began Skating:

Douglas always wanted to skate. He bothered his mother from age four until age nine until she gave in and let him take group ice skating lessons.

How Douglas Became Serious About Figure Skating:

Douglas participated in an ice show and was hooked on skating after that.

Competition Record:

Douglas has competed in regionals, sectionals, and at the U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships. He won silver medals at both regionals and sectionals.

Coaches:

Douglas' coach is Tiffany Hyden-Dombeck.

Training Schedule:

Douglas trains typically six days a week with 6:00 am sessions on Monday and Friday and from 3:00 - 5:30 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. He practices freeskating, ice dance, and moves on the afternoon sessions. He works with a personal trainer two times a week. Saturday is synchronized skating practice from 7:15 - 10:00 am followed by ice dance practice from 10:00 - 11:00 am.

Douglas' best figure skating moves include footwork and spins.

Favorite Skating Music:

Douglas likes to skate to music from the opera Carmen.

Favorite Skaters:

Douglas' favorite famous skaters include Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto and Scott Hamilton.

Education, Hobbies, and Talents:

Douglas is a student at Thornton High School in the Middle Years International Baccalaureate program. His hobbies and talents include reading, writing fantasy books and poetry, video games, writing, and the violin.

Goals and Dreams:

Douglas wants to make the Olympics in ice dancing. He also wants to be a Master Rated figure skating coach and to tour with an ice show. Outside of skating, he wants to get a Doctorate in Astrophysics.
