2008 and 2009 United States National Juvenile and Intermediate Pair Champions:

Olivia Oltmanns and Tyler Broderick won the United States National Juvenile Pair Skating title in 2008. In 2009, they won gold at the U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships in the Intermeidate pair skatng event.

They Did All Three - Pairs, Ice Dance, and Singles:

In 2007 and 2008, Oltmanns and Broderick not only competed together in pairs, but also competed in ice dancing. In addition, both competed in singles.

About Olivia's and Her Skating:

Olivia is called "Livi" by her family and friends. Her mother, Trudy Oltmanns, is a figure skating coach. "Livi" learned to skate because her mom taught skating. As a young child, Olivia was at the rink all day long. By the time Olivia was three years old, she could lace her own ice skates. For a couple of years, she just pushed herself around the rink on one foot. Until she was matched up with Tyler, she was too shy to compete on her own.

Olivia's Outstanding Accomplishment:

When "Livi" was only ten years old she passed her Senior Moves in the Field test.

How Olivia and Tyler Became a Pair :

Olivia and Tyler met at the Pony Express figure skating competition in St. Joseph, Missouri. Olivia's mother was coaching at that event and Tyler's mother was the competition chairman. The children became friends during the competition. During that weekend, the children skated together for fun. After having some fun together on the ice, they expressed an interest in becoming ice dance partners. The families started meeting on weekends so the children could dance. Soon, the children were doing pairs, dance and singles. Olivia was eight years old and Tyler was nine years old when they began skating together.

Tyler's "Long Commute":

The children's families lived about four hours apart, but since Tyler trained in singles with Olivia's mom, Tyler's trips from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sioux City, Iowa became frequent.

Competition Highlights:

Oltmanns and Broderick qualified for the final round in both pairs and dance in 2007 and 2008 at the US Junior National Figure Skating Championships. Tyler also qualified for the final round in singles in 2007 and 2008.

Tyler competed in the Juvenile Boys event at Junior Nationals, after winning the US Juvenile pairs title. He admits it was hard to stay focused after knowing he had just become a national figure skating champion in pairs.

Tyler was born in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents are Christopher and Christine Broderick from Plattsburg, Missouri. Tyler has one brother and one sister.

Goals:

The pair hopes to win many more figure skating events.

A Note From Olivia and Tyler:

We would like people to know that we skate together because we are best friends and we love doing things together. Although we now love pairs, in the beginning we didn't care what figure skating discipline we skated as long as we could skate and spend time together.

A Message From Olivia and Tyler's Parents:

Olivia and Tyler are very close and act like they are twins. The children can't imagine skating with anyone else. They hope to be a pair team that stays together for all of their figure skating career.
