The Swing Dance - An Ice Dancing Video

The Swing Dance is one of the first ice dances where figure skaters learn to skate together in waltz position. In the Swing Dance, one partner skates backward while the other partner skates forward. There is one section of the dance where the partners skate forward together in an open position and hold hands. The skaters are on opposite feet in that section of the dance. The Swing Dance includes forward and backward mohawk turns, chasses, stroking, and swing rolls. Men and women learn the same steps in the Swing Dance, but the man skates forward in the first part of the dance and the lady skates backward. During the second part of the dance, the lady skates forward and the man skates backward.
