About.com Figure Skating Guide, Jo Ann Schneider Farris, and her ice dancing partner, Richard Griffin, placed second in the U.S. National Figure Skating Championships in Junior Dance in 1975. They won the European Waltz which is shown on this video. The European Waltz is a beautiful compulsory ice dance. It includes three turns and back outside edges for the lady and cross three turns, back outside edges, and forward strokes for the man. Although the steps of the dance are simple, to do a good European Waltz takes much skill. To the observer, it looks like the dance couple is truly waltzing and spinning on the ice during a European Waltz. This video shows a very well done European Waltz.
