World and Olympic Coach:

Kathy Casey has coached many national and international figure skating champions. She has been the official coach for three Olympic Games.

Kathy Casey's Early Days as a Figure Skating Coach:

Kathy grew up and skated in Great Falls, Montana. In 1962, she began coaching and directing the figure skating program at the Lakewood Winter Club in Tacoma Washington.

Director of Figure Skating - Lakewood Winter Club:

Those who remember Kathy Casey's days at the Lakewood Winter Club say that Kathy worked magic at that arena. Every year, the local skaters that Kathy trained in Tacoma competed in national and international events. The Lakewood Winter Club of Tacoma became a major summer training center due to Kathy Casey's efforts.

Past President - Professional Skaters Associaton :

Kathy Casey served as the President of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) for six years. In addition to serving as the President of the Professional Skaters Association, she has served on the Board of Directors of U.S. Figure Skating and on the U.S. Olympic Coaches Committee.

Director of Skating - Broadmoor Skating Club:

In 1990, Kathy Casey became the Director of Skating for the Broadmoor Skating Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She directed that skating program until 2000.

Some of Kathy Casey's Famous Students:

Kathy Casey coached United States National Figure Skating Champion, Scott Davis and World Junior Champion, Jill Sawyer. World Figure Skating Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist, Rosalynn Sumners, also took lessons from Kathy Casey. Other skaters who have worked with Kathy include Scott Williams, Nicole Bobek, Scott Hamilton, Lily Lee, Shelby Lyons, Steven Rice, Sydne Vogel, and Damon Allen.

Kathy Casey Seminars and Presentations:

Kathy Casey gives figure skating seminars throughout the world. Her seminars have taken place in Canada, Sweden, Great Britain, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, Australia, and in the United States. She has given presentations for the International Skating Union and has conducted developmental ice skating camps In Finland, Slovenia, and China.

Experienced in Singles, Pairs, and Ice Dancing:

In addition to teaching single skating, Kathy Casey has taught pair skating and ice dancing. In Tacoma, most of her students passed pair and ice dance tests in addition to working on their single skating. Many of Kathy Casey's students earned gold medals in figures, freestyle, and ice dancing in both the United States and Canada. She also trained national competitors in ice dancing.

USOC Award Recipient:

In 2005, Kathy Casey was awarded the "United States Olympic Committee Sports Science Coach of the Year" award. She received that honor for the work she has done on the biomehanical studies of figure skating jumps.

Respected Worldwide:

Kathy Casey is respected throughout the figure skating world. Elite ice skating officials, coaches, and skaters look up to her. She loves figure skating and works hard. She hopes to continue to pass her experience and knowledge on to figure skaters all over the world.
