Twenty-three teams from eighteen countries participated: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

2010 was the second time that the World Synchronized Championships was held in the United States. The first World Synchronized Skating Championship took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA in 2000.
