Janet and her husband, Dr. Louis Schlom

Janet Champion's husband, Dr. Louis Schlom, passed away on October 22, 2009. He was a physician. Janet met him at the "House of Ice," the rink in San Diego where Janet taught skating. He was an excellent adult ice dancer. Janet skated everyday on the noon public session just for fun; during those sessions, they started ice dancing together. He liked all the same things she enjoyed: skating, ballet, cooking and photography. They became close and traveled to Los Angeles every week-end to take ice dance lessons from Bert Wright, a U.S. National Ice Dance Champion. Janet and Louis were married for over thirty years.
