The goal of Blades For The Cure is to use the talents of national and international figure skaters to raise funds to help figure skating families in need due to cancer. The first show took place on April 12, 2008. These are photos from that inaugural show. Olympic Champion and cancer survivor
Peggy Fleming devoted her time to the cause. The show was directed by
Eddie Shipstad of Shipstad Entertainment and Damon Alllen. World figure skating competitors
Ryan Bradley and Jeremy Abbott performed.
About.com's Figure Skating Guide, Jo Ann Schneider Farris, had the thrill of seeing her own two children perform at the benefit ice skating show. Joel and Rebekah Schneider-Farris were honored to be invited to perform in a group number that included young skaters who competed at the 2008 U.S. Junior National Figure Skating Championships.
After the Blades For The Cure show, Peggy Fleming took the time to pose for a photo with the Schneider-Farris family.
