Olympic Medalist and U.S. National Champion:

Figure Skater Sasha Cohen won a Silver Medal in the 2006 Winter Olympics and she is the 2006 United States Figure Skating Ladies Champion. She is an elegant and beautiful skater. Her beautiful presentation makes her not only an athlete, but a celebrity.

Born:

October 26, 1984 in southern California

How Sasha Began Skating:

Sasha began skating when she was seven years old. The first time she went skating, she went skating with a friend. Before she was a figure skater, she was a serious gymnast. She didn't become totally committed to figure skating until she was ten and she mastered her axel when she was eleven.

Sasha's Given Name:

Alexandra Pauline Cohen is Sasha's given name. Sasha is an Ukrainian nickname for the name Alexandra.

Siblings:

Sasha has one sister. She is younger than Sasha and her name is Natasha.

Sasha's Parents:

Galina and Roger Cohen are Sasha's proud parents. Her mother was born in the Ukraine.

Coach:

John Nicks has coached many top U.S. pairs teams including Jo Jo Starbuck and Ken Shelley, Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner and Jenny Meno and Todd Sand. He also coached Peggy Fleming.

Sasha's autobigraphy, Fire on Ice, tells much about her life and her skating.
