2006 World Figure Skating Champion:

Kimmie Meissner won the world figure skating championships in 2006. She was only sixteen years old at the time.

2006 Olympic Competitor:

Kimmie Meissner also participated in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. She placed sixth.

Kimberly Claire Meissner:

Kimmie's given name is Kimberly Claire Meissner, but everyone calls her Kimmie.

Date of Birth and Hometown:

Kimmie Meissner was born on October 4, 1989 in Towson, Maryland. Kimmie now lives in Belair, Maryland.

Began Skating:

Kimmie was six years old when she began ice skating.

Triple Axel:

At the 2005 U.S. National Figure Skating Championships that took place in Portland, Oregon, Kimmie landed a triple axel. She is the second woman in United States history to land a triple axel in competition. At that Portland competition, Kimmie placed third.

Outstanding Competition Record:

Besides winning the world championships and going to the Olympics in 2006, Kimmie has won many other medals. Kimmie Meissner is the 2006 U.S. National Silver Medalist and the 2005 US National Bronze Medalist. She also won the Silver Medal at the 2004 Junior World Championships; she is the 2004 Junior Ladies U.S. National Champion, and the 2003 Novice U.S. Ladies National Champion. In 2007, she won the U.S. National Ladies title, the Four Continents Championships, and she also won gold at Skate America.

Family:

Kimmie's proud parents are Dr. Paul and Judy Meissner. She has three brothers: Nathan, Adam, and Luke.

Training:

Kimmie trains in Newark, Delaware and represents the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club. Her coach is Pamela Gregory and her choreographers are Lori Nichol and Nikoli Morozov. She does training in off-ice conditioning under strength trainer, Jeff Schneider.

Hobbies:

Kimmie enjoys reading, skiing, horseback riding, and riding her bike. She also likes to draw and play tennis.

Favorite Food:

Kimmie loves chocolate chip cookies.
