Top Achievements as an Amateur Skater:

Dan won two national bronze medals and represented the United States at the World Figure Skating Championships for two seasons.

In 1990, Dan competed in Junior Men at the U.S. Nationals and finished eighth. In 1992 he was second in National Junior Men. In 1993, he moved up to the Senior level. He competed at the Senior level and Nationals for six years. He turned professional shortly after the 1999 National Championships.

Training:

Dan began skating when he was only four years old. His first coaches were David and Rita Lowery at the Detroit Skating Club.

He then worked with Diana Ronayne. Later, he was coached by Mitch Moyer.

Professional Achievements:

Dan performs in skating shows and tours worldwide including Tom Collin's Champions On Ice Tour, Art on Ice in Zurich, Switzerland, the United Way in Boston, the Jimmy Fund "Evening with Champions" event at Harvard, and many other local shows.

Most Spectaculaor Move:

Dan can do a backflip on the ice and he can flip over people or things. He has flipped over as many as five people.

Comedy on Ice is Dan's Specialty:

One of the most entertaining programs Dan performs is when he dresses as Mrs. Doubtfire and skates and makes audiences laugh.

Dan Hollander -- Skating Coach:

Dan coaches skating in Detroit and began coaching when he was only seventeen years old. He has a busy schedule, so is unable to coach all the time. He is popular with his skating students because of his fun personality.

Dan's Skate Like A Pro Video Series - Flipping Over Skating :

Flipping Over Skating gives beginning skaters instruction on basic skills.

Instruction is given on balancing, falling, getting up, how to move forward, stopping, moving backward, gliding on one foot, and turning. Directions are also given on how to do beginning jumps and spins.

Advice is included regarding equipment and clothing.
