Ice and Roller Skating are Similar:

"Everything that you watch ice figure skaters do on television, is also done on roller skates. The general public is not aware of that because of a lack of media coverage for roller skates."

Artistic Inline Skates or Quads?:

"Artistic inline skates (especially PIC® Skates) feel a lot like ice blades. Quads operate differently. They have turning trucks that steer the skate much like the steering mechanism on a car. If you pressure an inside or outside edge on a quad skate, the wheels turn to carve in the desired direction."

Blades Versus Wheels:

"Ice and inline skaters are used to a narrow and long wheelbase. Quad skaters have a short and wide wheelbase. That takes some adjustment and acclimation when going from ice to quads or vice versa. A 3-turn on ice is pretty easy, but I would not suggest trying it on quads without instruction (I have a capped front tooth to prove it)."

Roller and Ice Techniques Transfer:

"Most of the techniques are transferable between ice skates and quads, although quads sometimes need different technique and finesse to manage to pivot around four wheels rather than just on the rocker of an ice blade."
