How Irene and David Diamond Began to Skate

David and Irene Wanted to Get Some Exercise:

David writes:

"We led fairly sedentary adult lives, sitting on our rear ends in front of computers.

In our early fifties, we strapped on a pair of inline skates and could not even stand up. The instructor had to hold us up by our armpits. We eventually managed to skate around the jogging trails. In winter, we started skating indoors, at rinks.

My wife had a fitness center in the building where she worked, but I did not. So, since I worked down the street from an ice rink, I decided to try ice-skating. When other parents would ask which of the young skaters was my kid, I would smile and tell them that “I *am* the kid!”. One is never too old to learn to skate.

Eventually my wife joined me and took ice skating lessons herself. We then teamed up as an ice-dance team."
