Switched From Ice Skating to Roller Skating:
Irene and David Diamond have done something unusual: they switched from ice skating to roller skating. Many figure skaters once were roller skaters that skated in traditional quad roller skates. It is easy for roller skaters to make the switch to ice skating, but it is very unusual to hear of people that switch from ice skating to roller skating. How and why did Irene and David switch from ice skating to roller skating? This article tells their story.
About Irene and David Diamond:
The couple lives in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. They are the parents of three grown children. Two of their children are married. They have one "lovely granddaughter."
They are both retired computer professionals and they are in their early sixties. They were high school sweethearts who married in college and "wake up every day even more in love." Skate dancing is a perfect activity for them. David writes: "It is something that we can do together, and it is romantic to dance with ones love."
The Diamonds did have some other hobbies before they began skating: camping, sailing, canoeing, some hiking and climbing, tai chi, meditation and yoga, and skiing.
Both continue to be very active and both have many interests. Irene loves to knit. David draws and paints, he teaches "Personal Metaphysical Journeys" at TARP (Temple Universitys division for retired people), and he enjoys computers. Both enjoy the arts, attending classes, dancing, walks, travel, and they continue to enjoy the hobbies they did before they began to skate.
