Amanda Chaney Writes:
- "When I started on the team in 1999, I completed choreography weekend and discovered I was pregnant shortly after that. Naturally, I took the season off. The next year (2000) I joined the team when my son was just a few months old. It was a formative time for me, since I was transitioning to being a stay-at-home mom. I was used to being around people all day and being very active. Of course, having a new baby keeps you busy in different ways! Anyway, skating on the team has been a sanity saver for me. Because it is a commitment to myself as well as all the other skaters, it has kept me skating and allowed me to have vital time to myself away from my family. Aside from one more season off to have a second child, I have been on the team ever since. I'm married and have two sons.
I thought that I might retire from the adult team last year, since I felt I may have reached my skating peak. However, I decided to give it my all for at least one more season. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it (since this is the most challenging program we've ever done!) I also wanted to experience a season with Alicia as the full time coach. I suspected that she could do great things with our team. That certainly held true!"
