What Was Winning at the 2007 Synchronized Skating Nationals Like?

'Because of our excellent coach, Alicia Carr, we were always preparing for that night since day one of practice. In every practice we were told to sell the program to the judges and audience. After each exhibition or competition leading up to Nationals, there was always something to tweak and make better/stronger. So by the time we came to Nationals, there was nothing more that could be done to make our program more together and IJS-worthy; it was all about going out and doing what we had been practicing. The day of competition was exciting, for sure, but very calming and reminiscing at the same time. There weren’t any high strung emotions or nerves throughout our team. We were very focused and prepared for that moment through our training. When we took the ice and the music began to play, I felt as though we were all in synch with each other and moving all as one. It was the first I ever felt that with the team; and with the audience and our fan section cheering us on and applauding the success of every element we did, we definitely felt as if “that” was the best we ever could have done. Winning was just the cherry on the sundae.'

Is There Anything You Want to Share About Synchronized Skating?

"I’ll admit that it was at first difficult to mesh well with all the different personalities and skating talents, but because of the great coaching of Alicia, and the mutual respect we all had for the team, we found our common thread and were able to respect, befriend, and adore each other."
