Olympic Pair Skating Champions:

Natalia Mishkutenok and Artur Dmitriev are the 1992 Olympic pair skating champions. They competed together before, during, and after the breakup of the Soviet Union. During their time together, they competed for the Soviet Union, the Unified Team, and Russia.

World and European Pair Skating Champions:

In 1991 and 1992, Natalia Mishkutenok and Artur Dmitriev, won the World and European Figure Skating titles.

Dates and Places of Birth:

Natalia Mishkutenok was born July 14, 1970 in Minsk, Belarus and Artur Dmitriev was born on Junuary 21, 1968 in the Ukraine.

Coach:

The Mishkutenok-Dmitriev pair trained in St. Petersburg with legendary pair skating coach Tamara Moskvina.

Signature Spin:

Mishkutenok and Dmitriev were famous for doing the "Natasha's spin." In the spin, Mishkutenok legs would be in a complete split with her head pointed down. Her arm was around Dmitriev's calf so that both skaters were vertical.

Signature Death Spiral:

In addition to doing a signature spin, Mishkutenok and Dmitriev did a backward inside death spiral. In the move, Mishkutenok bent backwards and held her foot behind and above her head. Dmitriev held her raised skate's blade and also held her free hand.

1994 Olympic Silver Medalists:

At the 1994 Winter Olympics, they skated beautifully and received a standing ovation, but the gold medal was awarded to Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov. Natalia Mishkutenok and Artur Dmitriev received the silver medal.

Two Time Olympic Pair Skating Champion - Artur Dmitriev:

After the 1994 Winter Olympics, and Mishkutenok and Dmitriev parted. Dmitriev went on to skate with Oksana Kazakova. Dmitriev and Kazakova won the gold medal in 1998. He and Russian pair skating legend, Irina Rodnina, are the only pair skaters who have won the Olympics with two different partners.

After the Olympics - Natalia Mishkutenok:

Natalia Mishkutenok was married to an American hockey player named Craig Shephard. She taught Shephard to figure skate. People say that the figure skating movie, The Cutting Edge, was based on their partnership. She amd Shephard divorced. She is now married to Alan Hainline. The couple has one daughter: Natasha Aleena Mishkutionok Hainline. Mishkutenok coaches skating in Texas.

After the Olympics - Artur Dmitriev:

Artur Dmitriev has been married twice. He has two sons.
