The Best and the Worst Figure Skating Events of 2010

The 2010 Winter Olympic Games took place in Vancouver, Canada from February 12 through February 28, 2010. New champions were crowned in all four figure skating events.

Therese Rochette, the mother of Canadian figure skating champion and Olympic figure skater Joannie Rochette, died suddenly shortly after arriving at the Vancouver Olympics. Despite the tragedy, Rochette competed in the Games and won the bronze medal.

Kim Yu-Na, the 2010 Olympic Figure Skating Champion, left coach Brian Orser in 2010. Ice skating fans wanted to know the facts. Some people said that Yu-Na's mother must be the selfish one, and others say Kim is jealous of another skater Orser might teach. Then there's another group that said Orser is the bad guy.

The 2010 Synchronized World Figure Skating Championships took place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA from April 7 through April 10, 2010. 2010 was the second time that the World Synchronized Championships was held in the United States. Team USA #1, The Haydenettes, won bronze.

Barbi Smith was considered one of the most talented figure skaters in U.S. history. It was known that she performed with the Ice Capades in the mid-1980s, but after that, she left figure skating, and just seemed to disappear. In 2010, Barbie Smith was found!

"Skating with the Stars" was a reality television series that premiered on ABC on November 22, 2010. The show included celebrities that teamed up with national level, world, and Olympic figure skaters.

Battle of the Blades was a Canadian ice skating reality television show. Professional ice hockey players are paired up with prominent Canadian figure skaters. The pairs compete each week in an elimination style figure skating competition.

In memory of their daughter, Haley Rose Gans's parents, Pat and John Gans, donated beautiful original limited edition "Skate With All Your Heart" numbered collector quality Taylor-Gebler bronze take home trophies to the Broadmoor Skating Club.  The trophies were created with the hope of inspiring skaters in pairs and dance to exercise not only their technical skills but their talents in the creative and artistic aspects of skating at the highest levels.
