Sallie Simpson, the mother of Britney Simpson, one of Sappenfield's pair skating students, has implemented a special program that includes ice skating lessons for the district's developmentally disabled students. Bringing Sappenfield's pair skaters together with these children makes the skating part of the school program into something extraordinary.
Dalilah Sappenfield has made a commitment to support the program every year. The pair skaters who have participated and volunteered their time have found the experience rewarding and realize that there is much to be learned from Mapleton's develpmentally disabled students.
