Guide Review - A Dance Weekend with Carol Fox

Ice dancers from all over the United States and Canada come to Denver each May for the annual Dance Weekend with Carol Fox. The event takes place at the South Suburban Ice Arena in Littleton, Colorado and includes ten hours of ice dancing and instruction. Off-ice activities such as a Saturday dinner-dance are part of the event.

The event is geared for adult ice dancers of all levels, but to get the most out of the weekend, a skater should be able to do at least ten to twelve different ice dances. Skaters should also be secure in their individual skating skills. Children and teens who are accomplished at ice dancing will find the weekend to be a great learning experience. It is wise to spend some time preparing for this ice dance weekend by taking the time to review ice dance steps and partner positions and techniques.

In addition to social ice dancing, participants have fun doing things like the Grand March, the Backwards Canasta Tango, the Rose Pattern Three-Lobe Waltz, and doing the Swing Waltz.

Carol Fox provides group ice dance instruction. Low and intermediate level clinics take place on Saturday, and a high level clinic takes place on Sunday. In addition, Carol is available to give private lessons before or after the actual weekend.

Each year, Fox usually has a high level male ice dance coach available to help with instruction and partnering. Also, each year, Carol performs an exhibition and an annual group photo is taken.

In recent years, few high level ice dancers have attended, but high level ice dances are played during the program dance sessions and are made available to do. There is usually an equal amount of men and women who attend, so there are opportunities for most people to dance almost every dance with a partner.

A Dance Weekend with Carol Fox will make any ice dancer happy.
