Take a journey backwards through Olympic figure skating history and learn a bit about the men who have won gold medals at the Winter Olympic Games.

------------------------------------------------

Ukrainian figure skater Viktor Petrenko competed in three different Olympics (1988, 1992, and 1994).   He represented the Unified Team when he won Olympic Gold at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games which were held in Albertville, France, and skated for the Soviet Union when he won bronze at the 1988 Olympic Games which took place in Calgary, Canada.  After the Olympics, he went on to perform and then became a figure skating coach.  Like many figure skaters from the former Soviet Union, he now lives in the United States.

Petrenko is known for being one of the reasons that Oksana Baiul was able to win the 1994 Olympic Ladies Figure Skating title.  He sponsored Baiul's skating and also convinced his longtime coach, Galina Zmievskaya, to teach her.
