The rink is located between 47th and 50th Streets and 5th and 7th Avenues in New York City.

History:

The Ice Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center opened on Christmas Day in 1936.

Outdoor Ice Skating:

Rockefeller Center's ice rink is considered part of the "New York City experience." Those who visit New York City enjoy skating on the outdoor ice skating rink.

Small Ice Surface:

The ice surface at Rockefeller Center is smaller than most ice arenas.

Lots of Skaters:

Much of the time, the Rockefeller Center ice rink is busy and crowded. Over a quarter million people skate at Rockefeller Center's ice rink each year.

Seasonal Ice Skating:

The rink at Rockefeller Center is open from October through April.

Figure Skating Instruction:

Three-Time United States National Pair Skating Champion, JoJo Starbuck, teaches a class at Rockefeller Center's ice rink once a week. That class is made up of people involved with intense professional careers in New York City.

Other group figure skating classes are offered at the arena. Private ice skating instruction is also available.

Admission :

The cost of skating at Rockefeller Center varies. Admission can be anywhere from $5.00 to $14.00.

Historical Events Take Place at Rockefeller Center's Ice Rink:

On Election Day, November 4, 2008, a map of the United States was scribed into the ice surface of the famous ice rink at Rockefeller Center. During the day, skaters enjoyed ice skating over the map. Later that night, as the election results came in, the states were painted blue or red.
