Definition: In single skating, a skater performs and skates alone. Men compete against men and women compete against women. Skaters perform jumps, spins, footwork, and other skating moves.

Examples:

Women's single skating is the most popular part of figure skating for figure skating fans and skaters. Solo Ice Dancing is not Single Skating; jumps and spins done by a solo skater make up Singles.
