Footwork or Steps

By Jo Ann Schneider Farris, About.com

Definition: When figure skaters put a series of turns and steps together, they are doing footwork. The possibilities are endless.
Also Known As: Step Sequences or Steps
Examples: A figure skater's program usually includes at least one step sequence. Some skaters do circular step sequences; others do straight line, diagonal, or serpentine patterns. Extra credit is given when a circular step sequence is done in the clockwise direction.
