Short Program

Definition: The short program in figure skating is the first program skated in figure skating competitions. Short programs are done in single skating, pair skating, and synchronized skating. The program is shorter than the freeskating program or long program, which is the second phase of the most figure skating competitions.
Also Known As: The short program has been called the original program, the technical program, "the short," the compulsory program, and/or the compulsory short program.
Examples: There are required elements in the short program.
