Examples: Almost every ice rink or roller skating rink offers public skating sessions.

It is common to see skaters of all ages and abilities on public skating sessions. Figure skaters are able to get in some practice during public skating sessions. Beginners, recreational skaters, and hockey players skate on sessions that are open to the general public.

Most public skating sessions are about two hours in length, but some public skating sessions are longer or shorter. Music is usually played on the rink's loudspeakers during public skating sessions.
