Definition: Loops are compulsory figures that look like little oblong circles inside larger round circles.
Examples:
Since compulsory figures are no longer included in ice skating competitions, loops are now done in figure skating step sequences. Doing loops in footwork sequences may give an ice skating competitor extra points.

There are forward outside loops, forward inside loops, back outside loops, and back inside loops.
