Definition: In the U.S. Figure Skating Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field Test and in ISI Ice Skating Institute's Delta and Freestyle One tests, skaters must perform consecutive outside and inside edges along a long axis.
Examples:
When you make a half circle on an inside edge, you have done a forward inside edge in a pattern.
Consecutive edges skated along a long axis and are usually first done on the right foot, then the left foot, and may be repeated across the entire width of an ice arena.
There are forward outside edges, forward inside edges, back outside edges, and back inside edges.
