Definition: Figure skaters that pass the Senior Freeskating, Senior Moves in the Field, Gold Dance, Senior Free Dance, Senior Pairs, and Adult Gold tests beome U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalists.

Earning a U.S. Figure Skating test gold medal is a major achievement. Every American figure skater that the public sees competing at the World Figure Skating Championships and at the Olympics is a "Gold Medalist."
Before compulsory figures were eliminated from ice skating competitions, every figure skater worked towards passing the 8th Figure Test. Passing the "8th Test" was so hard, that not every skater could achieve that goal. Those who passed that test became "Gold Medalists." Passing tha the 8th Figure Test meant that a skater had achieved one the most significant accomplishments in figure skating.
