Guide Review - Review of "A is for Axel" - An Ice Skating Book by Kurt Browning

Canadian and World Figure Skating Champion, Kurt Browning, has written a book geared especially for children all about figure skating. A is for Axel is an alphabet book and is really a almost a companion to Z is for Zamboni, a hockey ABC book published by the same publisher, Sleeping Bear Press.

The most outstanding feature of this book is the beautiful paintings that are included on every page. The paintings are actually oil paintings and are very realistic. A parent can read one page a day to a child, so this book can make great bedtime reading.

Although A is for Axel is written for children, the sidebars on each page will educate an adult reader about figure skating history, figure skating moves, and other details of the sport. Anyone who is interested in ice skating will find this book to be a welcome addition to a home library.
