An Evening of Some of the Best Ice Skating Champions:
"An Evening With Champions" is an ice skating exhibition of top figure skaters. This figure skating performance is run by students from Harvard University. The show raises funds for the Jimmy Fund and pediatric cancer research.
History of "An Evening With Champions":
"An Evening With Champions" began in 1970. John Misha Petkevich (1972 U.S. Mens National Figure Skating Champion), who was a student at Harvard, met several children being treated for leukemia. He wished to help children with cancer and he organized an exhibition of elite figure skaters for the first "An Evening With Champions" performance.
The Skaters:
"An Evening With Champions" is a premiere figure skating exhibition. World and Olympic champions perform along with local figure skaters and Harvard skaters. Dorothy Hamill, Elizabeth Manley, Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi, Brian Orser, Brian Boitano, Paul Wylie, Michelle Kwan, Ilia Kulik, Oksana Baiul, and Nancy Kerrigan are only some of the ice skaters who have performed for this cause.
The Sick Children Skate Too:
Usually at one of the performances, children suffering from cancer get to skate and talk with the performers.
An Audience of Thousands:
Thousands of people come to see this ice show. Also, the event is televised so many more people are able to view the performance.
Host:
In recent years, 1992 Olympic Silver Medalist and Harvard graduate Paul Wylie has served as the host for the performances.

1972 U.S. National Champion John Misha Petkevich is the author of the book Figure Skating that is a comprehensive guide to all aspects of figure skating.
