Japanese Ice Skating Star:

Nobunari Oda is the 2009 Japanese Men's Figure Skating Champion. He is one of the favorites to win or medal at the 2010 Olympics.

Trains in the United States:

Oda is coached by his mother, Noriko Oda, when he is in Japan, but most of the time, he lives and trains in the United States and is coached by Nikolai Morozov.

Trivia:

Nobunari Oda is a descendant of Nobunaga Oda, a famous Japanese warlord.

Scandal:

In the summer of 2007, Oda was suspended from competing after being arrested in Osaka for driving under the influence of alcohol. He took the 2008 season off. When he returned, in 2009, he won the Japanese national figure skating title.
