Olympic Bronze Medalist and World Figure Skating Champion Jeffrey Buttle:

Jeffrey Buttle won a bronze medal in figure skating at the 2006 Winter Olympics. In 2008, he became the World Figure Skating Champion.

Canadian Men's Figure Skating Champion:

Buttle won the Canadian Men's title in figure skating in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Date and Place of Birth:

Jeffrey Buttle was on born September 1, 1982 in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario, Canada.

Began Ice Skating at a Young Age:

Buttle began ice skating when he was only two years old.

Also Competed in Ice Dancing:

Besides competing in single skating, Jeffrey competed in ice dancing with his sister, Meghan Buttle.

Two-Time Four Continents Champion:

Jeffrey Buttle won the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in 2002 and in 2004.

Known for Original Choreography:

Buttle was known for complicated and original skating and choreography.

Coaches, Training, Skating Club:

Jeffrey was coached by Lee Barkell and Rafael Arutunian. His choreographer was David Wilson. He trained in Toronto. His skating club is the Sudbury Skating Club.

Retired From Competitive Figure Skating in September of 2008:

On September 10, 2008, it was announced that Jeffrey Buttle had made a decision to retire from competitive figure skating. He stated that he was satisfied with what he had accomplished in the sport and just did not have the fire to continue. His decision surprised the ice skating world since it was expected he'd be one of Canada's hopes for a medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
