U.S. National Figure Skating Bronze Medalist:

Ashley Wagner is the 2008 U.S. National Figure Skating bronze medalist and the 2007 and 2009 World Junior Figure Skating bronze medalist.

Date of Birth:

May 16, 1991

Place of Birth:

Wagner was born on a U.S. army base in Heidelberg, Germany.

Family:

Ashley Wagner's father is a retired Army lieutenant colonel and her mother is an elementary school teacher. She has a younger brother who is also a competitive figure skater.

Early Skating:

When Wagner was five, her father was stationed in Eagle River, Alaska. She began skating there. She was inspired to become a figure skater after watching Tara Lipinski win gold at the 1998 Winter Olympics. In 2003, Wagner qualified for the U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships.

Education:

Ashley Wagner's family moved around many times since her father was in the military. Some of the places she has lived in include Germany, California, Alaska, Kansas, Washington, and Virginia. In 2009-10 she attended Northern Virginia Community College through an online study program. She was homeschooled for a short time, but also attended public school.

Training:

Priscilla Hill is Wagner's coach. Ashley lives in Alexandria, Virginia, trains in Wilmington, Delaware, and represents the Skating Club of Wilmington.

  • 2005 - Northwest Pacific and Pacific Coast Novice Ladies Figure Skating Champion

Hobbies:

Wagner enjoys reading and running.

Hopes and Dreams:

Like many young figure skaters, Ashley Wagner hopes to represent the United States at the Winter Olympic Games.
