Champion Figure Skater Kim Yu-Na:

Kim Yu-Na is the 2009 World Figure Skating Champion and the 2009 Four Continents champion. In addition, she is the 2007 and 2008 World figure skating bronze medalist, the 2007 Grand Prix Final champion, the 2006 World Junior figure skating champion, and the 2006 Junior Grand Prix Final Champion. She has won the South Korean National figure skating title five times.

Date of Birth and Place of Birth:

Kim Yu-Na was born on September 5, 1990 in Bucheon, South Korea.

Home City:

Kim calls Gunpo City, South Korea home.

Early Skating:

Kim Yu-Na began skating when she was five years old. At age ten, she landed her first triple jump. When she was twelve, she won the South Korean Ladies figure skating title for the first time. She began competing internationally shortly after that.

Training:

In 2006, Kim Yu-Na moved to Toronto, Canada to train under Olympic Silver Medalist Brian Orser.

Signature Moves:

In Korea, Kim Yu-Na is known for the "Yu-Na Spin" or the "Yu-Na camel spin." It is a camel spin where she does various and unusual positions.

Another of her signature moves is a layback ina bauer that leads into a double Axel.

Hobbies:

Kim enjoys exploring the internet and shopping.

Celebrity:

Kim Yu-Na is a celebrity in Korea. In addition to being a figure skating star, she is a popular singer.
