Every summer when I was a kid, I took part in summer skating shows. I was so excited to be selected to skate in the show's precision team number, and since I was the one of the shortest and fastest skaters, my job was to be at the end of a skating pinwheel and skate as fast as possible to one of the ends of the pinwheel and latch on to join the team. Every time we did a show I would wonder if I could catch the team's skaters, but I always did!
Later, when I "grew up" and became a skating coach, I was given a chance to teach a tot drill team. The little four and five year old skaters that I lined up, marched together in formation. They were so cute! I went on to teach adult, youth, and teen precision teams. It was great fun!
Precision skating is now called synchronized skating, which is much more difficult than what precision skating was.
