Just one week after the Ice Theatre of New York held a gala celebration honoring ice skating show legend, Richard Dwyer, the company was affected by Hurricane Sandy. The company's offices were destroyed. Everything on the ground floor of the Chelsea Piers complex was destroyed by sea water that was as high as ten feet. The Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers melted. The husband of one of the company's long-time supporters died after being hit by a tree in the backyard of his home in New Jersey.
Donations are being accepted to help Ice Theatre of New York rebuild. 'We want to keep ensemble skating alive," says the show's director Jirina Ribbens. "We have been fortunate to receive some donations already to help us rebuild."
