Ten year old Eliana Gropman and eleven year old Ian Somerville are proof that the Wheaton Ice Skating Academy (WISA) has a good thing going. WISA requires that they skate and train three to four hours a day and concentrate exclusively on ice dancing.
The Academy's methods must work since not only did Gropman and Somerville win the United States National Juvenile Dance title, but their training mates Gwen Sletten and Elliot Verburg won the silver. Another Wheaton team, Gigi and Luca Becker, won the Intermediate Dance event. In 2011, another Wheaton team, Rachel and Michael Parsons, won the US Novice Dance title. The Parsons will represent the United States in the upcoming 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games that will take place in Innsbruck, Austria at the end of this month.
