Merry Neitlich - A "Coach" for Figure Skating Coaches

At the 2010 Professionals Skaters Association (PSA) Conference which took place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this past May, there was a presentation given by Merry Neitlich, who is an educational consultant turned marketing consultant turned adult national champion competitive figure skater.

Merry, along with renowned choreographer Phillip Mills, taught the session, "Increasing Coaching Success: The Secrets of Master Educators." Using 20-years of proven educational technique, the session was designed to help figure skating coaches further refine their teaching effectiveness. Merry based this seminar on proven learning theory from the Design for Effective Instruction developed at the UCLA graduate education school.

Five elite coaches - Frank Carroll, Dalilah Sappenfield, Tom Zakrajsek, Shelly Barnett and Robbie Kaine also participated on a panel that Merry moderated discussing the results of the 2010 PSA Best Coaching Practices Survey. These coaches shared their best tips for getting the most out of their skaters. Each shared with a light heart and strong spirit. Those in the audience were treated to the inside secrets of some of the best coaches in the world.
