Russian ice dancers and world figure skating champions, Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin, are the favorites to win gold in Vancouver. Recently, at the 2010 European Figure Skating Championships, they did an original dance that was supposed to be a tribute to Australian Aborigines.
There is a problem though: the entire Aborigine culture has been offended. Apparently their program was not even close to representing true Aborignine values, movements, make-up, or costumes. It has been said that the Russian ice dancers completely "missed the mark."
I wonder if Domnina and Shabalin could put together a different original dance before the Olympics? I doubt it. An original dance is like a work of art. It takes months and months to put everything together; but, will the Russian ice dancers want to offend the Aborignes again?
