Six Degrees of FIGURE SKATING Separation - How Many Ice Skaters Are Out There?

Five days ago, I thought I'd do something original and creative. On a whim, I created a group on FACEBOOK called Six Degrees of FIGURE SKATING Separation. After three days, more than 3,000 people had joined the group. I checked today's numbers and there are now 5,235 members.

I believe everyone who has had anything to do with figure skating is somehow connected to someone else in figure skating. How many ice skaters exist on this planet?
