Olympic Figure Skater Roy Wagelein Found Dead

Wednesday June 25, 2008
I just was informed that 1968 Olympian, Roy Wagelein, was found dead in his home today. No details were given.

Wagelein was a tremendous pair skater. He placed second at three consecutive U.S. National Figure Skating Championships (1966, 1967, and 1968) and qualifed for three world championships. Roy competed with Susan Berens in 1966 and 1967. After she joined the Ice Follies in 1967, he teamed up with Sandi Sweitzer and the newly matched pair qualifed for the Olympics. He was also a graduate of the famous Hollywood Professional School.

My thoughts are with your family. I knew Roy for many years, we skated together at Polar Palace and Pickwick. He was a friend and partner.
