Figure Skating is Possible in Hockey Skates!

In 1998, when the U.S. Women's Ice Hockey Team won the Olympics, I was inspired. I decided that I needed to try skating on hockey skates, so I bought a good pair of ice hockey skates and was pleasantly surprised! I found that skating on hockey skates was easy for me because I was an accomplished figure skater. I learned all I could about hockey, and soon, I was teaching hockey players to skate. I helped them with their power and some of the players I taught became accomplished hockey players. They found that the figure skating "secrets" I taught them made them better, stronger, and faster. I had a blast!

Then I got brave -- I began trying figure skating moves on hockey skates. I was really excited when I realized I could do sit spins, ice dances, and figures on ice hockey skates.

Also, hockey skates are so comfortable. When I was pregnant, my feet swelled up. My feet didn't fit in my figure skates, but I skated on hockey skates until the day my baby was born!
