Join a Figure Skating Club

Thursday August 3, 2006

Every skating club will offer different programs for figure skaters. Some clubs run group lesson programs, others hire figure skating coaches and direct all figure skating programs at an arena, and others offer skaters a chance to takes tests, participate in competitions, and skate in shows.

Beginning skaters do not need to join a skating club, but once a skater is ready to take official U.S. Figure Skating tests or compete in competitions beyond the recreational level, it is time to join a figure skating club.

Skaters can also join more than one club. Whatever club a skater represents in competition is called a skater's "home club," but a skater can be an associate member of several other clubs.
